What People Are Saying

Thank you so much for a wonderful day today. I learnt so much and enjoyed every minute.
It was an unforgettable day and I will definitely see the world with different eyes now.

Thank you again for the excellent day, I've definitely taken some good lessons away, and I'll look forward to applying them!

Ernesto, HUGE thanks for such a fantastic day yesterday. I could have listened to you speaking all day, hanging on your every word.  Your presentation was extremely interesting and you pitched it perfectly.  Such a successful day and one I'll always remember.  Thank you for feeding our interest in photography and we will definitely sign up for another Workshop!

The Workshop

For me the two most important things that should be included in a Street Photography workshop are looking at and discussing some great images and then just going out there and taking photographs.

The other thing I care about is keeping the group small – 4 or 5 attendees.

We will start the day with a good breakfast in a cosy room and we will go through a presentation and discussion, looking at work by great photographers and trying to tune in to the street photographer’s thinking and approach through examples, quotes, anecdotes. We will touch on some technical and legal aspects, but these are not the priority. I will use one of my recent projects as a case study. This first part of the workshops will last approximately 2 hours, from 9 to 11am. The room is ours for the day, so at this point we can use it as a cloakroom. And by the way, breakfast is on me.

We will then hit the streets and shoot in 4 different locations. We will spend roughly 45 minutes in each location and allow 15 minutes to walk between places. 2 locations before lunch and 2 after.

From roughly 4pm we will go back to our meeting room and we will discuss how the day went.

Each photographer will be invited to choose their best 5 images from the day and we will then pick one or two photos and edit/post-process them.

By 6 or 6.30pm we should be done and ready to go to the pub for a well-deserved drink!

What will you need to bring?

Comfortable shoes!

We will be spending most of the day outdoors and will be walking a lot. So weather appropriate clothes are essential.

A camera with the ability to shoot RAW (rather than JPEG) would be preferable but not vital.

A normal (50 mm) or a slightly wider lens (35 mm) will work fine or you might choose to use a zoom such as a 24-70 mm.

To check and choose your images at the end of the day, you might want to bring a tablet or laptop; but equally you can just use the back of the camera.

All the above are suggestions. You can still fully enjoy the day even if you don’t have a camera with interchangeable lenses and/or the option to shoot RAW.

Once you have booked a place, I will contact you individually to talk about the day and answer your questions.
